Current Rectification in Junctions with Spin-Split Superconductors

چکیده
Spin-split superconductors exhibit an electron-hole asymmetric spin-resolved density of states, but the symmetry is restored upon averaging over spin. On other hand, asymmetry appears again in tunneling junctions spin-split with a spin-polarized barrier. As demonstrated recently both theory and experiment, this fact leads to particularly strong thermoelectric effect superconductor-ferromagnet structures. In work we show another important stemming from asymmetry: current rectification. We calculate charge tunnel normal metal superconductor ac dc voltage bias. case, I-V curve not fully antisymmetric has voltage-symmetric component due spin polarization. This translates existence rectified which proportional polarization junction strongly depends on frequency applied discuss possible applications rectification effect, including diode for superconducting electronics radiation detectors. The analysis supplemented by discussion heat relevant noise correlators, where also plays role, are useful

متن کاملCurrent rectification in molecular junctions produced by local potential fields
The transport properties of an octane-dithiol ODT molecule coupled to Au 001 leads are analyzed using density-functional theory DFT and nonequilibrium Green’s functions. It is shown that a symmetric molecule can turn into a diode under influence of a local electric field created by an external charged probe. The origin of the asymmetry of the current-voltage I-V dependence is traced back to the...
متن کاملSpin current in ferromagnet / insulator / superconductor junctions
A theory of spin polarized tunneling spectroscopy based on a scattering theory is given for tunneling junctions between ferromagnets and d-wave superconductors. The spin filtering effect of an exchange field in the insulator is also treated. We clarify that the properties of the Andreev reflection are largely modified due to a presence of an exchange field in the ferromagnets, and consequently ...
متن کاملResonant spin current in nanotube double junctions
Zero bias conductance per spin of nanotube double junction (NTDJ) is investigated theoretically using the tight binding model, unrestricted Hartree-Fock approximation and non-equilibrium Green’s functions. NTDJ consists of two metallic nanotubes joined by a piece of semiconducting nanotube, with the transition between the nanotubes made up of sets of 5 and 7 member carbon rings. A quantum well ...
متن کاملZeeman ratchets: Rectification of spin current via magnetic fields
We investigate the possibility of creating directed spin-polarized currents in a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) subject to an inhomogeneous magnetic field and an external adiabatic driving. We thereby generalize concepts of quantum charge ratchets to the case with spin. Due to the Zeeman term in the Hamiltonian, spin-up and -down electrons experience different effective potentials, which c...
